French Conversation Groups

 

Several conversation groups are taking place every month in Cincinnati. You will hopefully find one that will suit your needs!

General conversation groups – open to all:

  • New French Conversation Group! Enjoy a cup of coffee from all over the world while you speak French with a nice group of francophones. The group meets the 1st Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at “Coffee Please” in the heart of Madeira at 6930 Miami Avenue, Cincinnati, OH. The meeting organizer is Maria. All levels are welcome! No registration is required.
  • The 2nd Tuesday of each month, come to the OM Café at 6:30pm at 329 Ludlow Avenue in Clifton.  Everyone and all levels of French are welcome. No rsvp is necessary and the group is also advertised on Meetup.com.  At the café they have a wide selection of teas and other drinks and for a corking fee of just $2. You can bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy.
  • The 3rd Tuesday of each month, a group of francophiles and francophones at 7:15pm at Starbuck’s located at Rookwood Pavilion. The meeting organizer is Mary. Come and talk about the latest news, your upcoming vacation or anything else you feel like discussing. All levels are welcome! The group meets for up to two hours. No registration required.
  • The 4th Tuesday of each month, join us for French conversation at 7:30pm at the Coffee Shop in Barnes and Noble bookstore at Newport on the Levee. All levels are welcome. The meeting lasts up to two hours. No registration is required. This group is also advertised on Meetup.com (http://french.meetup.com/485/), where you can register if you so wish. The meeting organizers are Sylvie or a designates when she cannot attend.

Topic-Oriented French conversation groups – native speakers, intermediate & advanced level:

  • The Mercantile Library co-sponsors a group who meets on the final Thursday of each month from noon until 1 PM, in the 12th floor meeting room of the Mercantile Library.Participants are asked to read the first article listed on thewebsite of Le Figaroin the Tuesday morning edition before the meeting.  A native speaker from the Alliance Française will facilitate the discussion on this topic.  You may bring your lunch.To insure a meaningful exchange of ideas, the group will be limited to 20 persons.  The event is free, but registration is required.  Please email afpostmaster@france-cincinnati.comto register each month.The Mercantile Library is located at414 Walnut St in Downtown Cincinnati.  Nearby parking is available under the Westin Hotel (416 Vine St), under Fountain Square (520 Vine St. or 525 Walnut St.), or at the Olympic Garage (Walnut & 3rd).  The Library is close to theGovernment Square bus stop for those who do not wish to drive downtown.
