The lecture by Ms. Hagedorn will be given in both the French and English languages.

Ms. Hagedorn is a recent graduate of Thomas More College where she majored in History, International Studies and French. She is a candidate for a Master’s Degree in French at the University of Kentucky. Among other previous presentations, Ms. Hagedorn has given lectures on “The Paris of Thomas Jefferson” and “The Presence of Foreign Language Education in Elementary Schools.”

The Friends of the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, Inc., is an organization dedicated to the study of the life of Harriet Beecher Stowe, the cultivation of the relevancy of her philosophy in today’s world and the maintenance of the Harriet Beecher Stowe House in Walnut Hills, an Ohio Historical Society site in which she lived.

Please note that the House is not handicap accessible.

The cost is $55 for members and $ 75 for non-members.

The Summit is a restaurant run by Cincinnati State’s Midwest Culinary Institute, a culinary training program that is giving rivals such as the Culinary Institute of America and Johnson & Wales a run for their money. The Summit’s executive chef, Matthew Winterrowd, is a graduate of the culinary program and touts experience as the former Chef de Cuisine of Daveed’s at 934, a stint at Chicago’s Trio and work with the Jean-Robert Group and Boca.

Last year s potluck at Woodland Mound Park was quite a success! Let’s turn it into a tradition and do it again: we have rented the Red Roost  shelter at Harper Meadows in Winton Woods for a fun gathering with good food and French music, from 5 pm to dusk!

Please bring a dish to share (preferably serve 6 so that we can all taste each other’s food!) and your own drinks. Don’t forget some games for the kids and maybe a few extra chairs to sit comfortably! Bring your set of “boules de pétanque” if you have one!

Parking is pre-paid for all the attendants (members or not) so you don’t have to get a Motor Vehicle Permit (sticker) in case you don’t have one.  Just tell the guard that you are coming for the” French Alliance picnic” and they will let you enter without a sticker.

Please register with the link so that we can plan for logistics : we will provide plates, plastic cultery, napkins and ice. There are some water fountains and restrooms close to the shelter.

Enjoy a buffet dinner and dancing to French and American music.

The cost for the event is simply to bring your favorite homemade summer dish to share! Please make at least 6 portions. There will be a “best dish” contest with prizes for the winners. Please come early with your dish if you would like to participate, as the winners will be anounced at 7:30 pm.

At this meeting, we will hold the annual election to fill the vacant seats on the Board and vote on the suggested revisions to the Code of Regulations of the Alliance Francaise de Cincinnati. We will also go over the achievements of the year.

Dr. Elderfield has been with the Museum of Modern Art in New York since 1975 when he began his career there as Curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture.  According to Glenn D. Lowry, Director of the Museum, Dr. Elderfield is “internationally known for the groundbreaking scholarship he brought to numerous exhibitions and publications at MoMA.  He is deeply respected throughout the art world for his curatorial dedication, collegiality, and expertise.”

It is with great honor that the Alliance Française presents this art lecture to our members.  He will be sharing the lessons that Matisse’s art continues to teach us today, almost a century after he first became known to the public.
