“La France de Harriet Beecher Stowe/Harriet Beecher Stowe’s France”

The Alliance Française of Cincinnati and The Friends of the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, Inc. will present a lecture for young people age 5 to 18 by Heidi Hagedorn entitled “La France de Harriet Beecher Stowe/Harriet Beecher Stowe’s France” on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House located in Walnut Hills at 2950 Gilbert Avenue, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard. The lecture by Ms. Hagedorn will present an introduction to the ties between France and a prominent figure in local Cincinnati history in discussing the manner in which Harriet Beecher Stowe influenced France and how France was, in turn, influenced by her. The lecture will be given in both the French and English languages and is free and open to the public. Ms. Hagedorn is a recent graduate of Thomas More College where she majored in History, International Studies and French. She is a candidate for a Master’s Degree in French at the University of Kentucky. Among other previous presentations, Ms. Hagedorn has given lectures on “The Paris of Thomas Jefferson” and “The Presence of Foreign Language Education in Elementary Schools.” During  “La France de Harriet Beecher Stowe/Harriet Beecher Stowe’s France,” a bilingual French/English program will be given by Lauren Cook for toddlers through children five years in age that will introduce the  children to the French alphabet and numerals using songs and visual media. Ms. Cook recently graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s Degree in French and is currently an Interpretation Manager, ESL Instructor and French Interpreter/Translator at Conversa in Cincinnati.
