Description:
Public debates in France concerning immigration and related issues have in recent years become increasingly focused on Muslim minorities. This paper seeks to explain this process of Islamicization and to assess the role played in it by the mass media.

Alec Hargreaves is Emeritus Winthrop-King Professor of Transcultural French Studies at Florida State University and Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Légion d’honneur. He is the author and editor of numerous books, articles, and translations relating to immigration, politics, and identity in contemporary France.
