When a group of Ursuline nuns arrived in New Orleans from Rouen in 1727, it significantly changed the sacred musical landscape in the Louisiana Territory of New France. Learn more about this special community of women that shaped the city’s cultural future.
 
The Catacoustic Consort presents Dr. Kim Pineda, musicologist and scholar-performer, as he discusses The Ursuline Manuscript (oldest known musical document in Louisiana musical history) and how the Ursuline nuns used it to change the culture of 18th Century New Orleans.
