Jardins féeriques - Ravel et l'orchestration. Masterclass with Louis Langrée.
Maestro Louis Langrée, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Conductor, will address members of Alliance Française in this exclusive event.
Louis will share his passion for Ravel's unique approach to orchestral colors. The presentation will be in French, but colors and music know no boundaries.
Ma mère l'Oye (Mother Goose; "Oye" is correctly capitalized, being a proper name) is a suite by French composer Maurice Ravel. The piece was originally written as a five-movement piano duet in 1910. In 1911, Ravel orchestrated the work. Louis will present the artistic process Ravel followed to transform a piano piece into a colorful orchestrated piece of music.
Before (and after!) the masterclass, rejoice to the recordings of the piano duet by Martha Argerich and Eduardo Delgado, and of the orchestrated piece by the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Louis Langrée directing.
